Andruw Jones

Saturday March 29, 2008

I was driving on the freeway early in the morning towards the L.A. Coliseum. I wanted to get there early and avoid the parking problems that I had been reading all week. While on the 10 Freeway, I recieved a call from a friend and he gave me a tip that Andruw Jones was scheduled to make an appearance at a Nike store in Beverly Hills. I didn’t know what to do. I wanted to get to the Coliseum as soon as possible. I didn’t want to get stressed out about the parking and I wanted to get there for the FanFest that was scheduled to start at 12pm. But I decided to go to the Andruw Jones event. I called my friend back and asked him to give me directions on how to get there since he has a gps map on his car. Jones was scheduled to be there between 11:30am/12pm I got there a little before 10am. I walked to the store and noticed that it was closed and no one was there. I was starting to doubt that Jones would be there. The store opened at 10am and I went in and asked a employee if Jones was going to be here signing autographs. He said yes. I was excited. Jones was there to promote the new Michael Jordan shoes. It’s a Baseball theme Nike Shoes. It was scheduled to be released that day. Around 10:30 am a line was starting to form. At 11 am a employee made 2 lines. One to buy the Jordan shoes and the other to meet Jones. I got into the Jones line. I didn’t care about the shoes. Jones showed up at 12pm. Once I got to meet him, I greeted him in spanish. (Alot of people don’t know he speaks spanish) “Hola Andruw, como estas, soy un gran fanatico” were some of my words…:) He signed 2 balls for me and gave my wife a 8×10 autograph picture of himself. I wished Jones good luck for the upcoming season and then we headed to the Coliseum!

Next post will be about the Coliseum game….

MLB Blogs are doing the best to fix the glitches. Info can be found here.
