World Baseball Classic 2009
On Thursday afternoon, the Dodgers will hold a press conference to announce that Dodger Stadium will host the World Baseball Classic (WBC) semifinals and finals. The 16-nation tournament are tentatively scheduled for March 21-23 2009 at Dodger Stadium. The same countries will represent. They are planning to add more countries (How about Nicaragua!?) for the 2013 tournament. That’s cool ! I’m a big fan of this tournament. I went to a couple of games for the 1st WBC event. I saw games in Phoenix, Anaheim and San Diego. It’s really fun. The fans of the respective countries are really into it and want them to win so bad. As a American citizen, I should root for U.S.A right ? Not really…in 2006 It looked like they didn’t take it seriously (kind of like the U.S. Basketball teams in recent Olympics) The American team didn’t seem they were having fun and the ones who complained about the Classic were the Americans. I never heard complaints from the other teams. They were proud to play for their country and the fans came out in large crowds to root for them. When I went to Phoenix to watch the U.S. take on Mexico, I would say more than half of the crowd were Mexicans. If you saw the parking lot, most license plates were “Sonora” and “Sinaloa” On this tournament I rooted for Mexico (My mom is from Sonora, Mexico) and Cuba (My dad is Cuban) It was hard rooting for Cuba, knowing that the team is run by Fidel Castro but you couldn’t appreciate the way they played. They were good. Made it all the way to the final against Japan. I was there at Petco Park when Japan defeated Cuba. It was like going to a game 7 World Series game. Check out some photos below. Pix # 1 -Inside Chase Field- Phoenix, Arizona (U.S.A. vs Mexico) Que chingon no? lol
2nd Pix -Angel Stadium- Anaheim, California (Korea vs Mexico) Viva Mexico cabrones!! lol
3rd Pix -Angel Stadium- Anaheim, California (Korea vs Japan) The stadium was packed full of Asians. Those fans were really into it. I’m sure I was the only brown guy and my Twin brother the only white guy at the Stadium 🙂 lol (btw, I’m on the right) Konichiwa !! 🙂
4th Pix -Petco Park- San Diego, California -The Final game (Cuba vs Japan) I bought the Cuba hat that same day at the gift shop before the game. It cost me a blow to the ribs to “win” the hat. Let me explain. Before the game, a couple of hours before game-time, I asked a employee if they had any official Cuba hats. He told me they sold out all the hats. That they are the hottest items. Huh ? Cuba hats sold out ? He said “yeah and you wouldn’t believe it who is buying them, the Americans!” Crazy huh ? I didn’t believe it until he told me that a shipment is coming any minute. I waited patiently. Then a couple of boxes come in with Cuba hats. The employees tried to stack them by size but all the fans got crazy over the hats. Everyone wanted one. I remember I got smashed into a corner while I was trying to find my hat size! lol It was insane. Crazy! Next time, I will buy it online… The people you see me behind was a complete orchestra. I’m serious. They brought like over 20 intruments and played it all night long! Se acabo el mundo !!
My last pix -This picture is Fernando Valenzuela and I holding the WBC Mexico Jersey. I already got autographs from Mexican players Benji Gil and Oliver Perez. I had to get Fernando to sign it since he was part of the Mexican coaching staff. Sweet !! 🙂 Yaqui Power !! lol
Ethier playing for Mexico ?
Talking about the WBC reminded me that a couple of people have told me that Andre Ethier is interested playing for Mexico at the 2009 World Baseball Classic. Can anyone confirm this ? I can’t find anything online except a line on Wikipedia that says “He has stated his intention to play for Mexico in the next World Baseball Classic” He did ? Wow, I never knew or heard about it
. I know he is of Mexican heritage, but I never knew he wanted to play for Mexico. I remember Nomar Garciaparra was going to play for Mexico in 2006 but he opt out.
Want to meet Ethier ?
Ok people have been telling me to give them upcoming appearances by Dodgers. Here is one:
August 2, 2008
12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Andre Ethier at: AT&T
3851 Overland Ave
Culver City, CA 90232
I don’t think I will be going…I might head over to San Diego area and score some autographs there. But if you do go, tell me about it ! Ahhh y preguntale si va jugar para Mexico ? Comprendes wey ? lol 🙂
New Dodgers Blog
Check out a new Dodger blog made by Joseph. I see him during the autographs sessions.
Manny Ramirez coming to the Dodgers ? Say it ain’t so Colleti ? Keep the youth intact ! DO NOT TRADE MATT KEMP. DO NOT TRADE ANDRE ETHIER. Understand ?
Kent is a loner
Did you read this from the L.A. Times…? Jeff Kent says “I don’t hang out with the guys — never have,” he says. “I don’t go out drinking, look at porn, have a girlfriend or get divorced — so I’m selfish”

As you know, I’m a big fan of Troy from West Virginia. The dude is funny ! Well to my surprise, he posted a video about me meeting his idol. lol I don’t know if I should sue him or laugh about it. lol Just kidding, it’s all good Troy. Thanks. You’re coming August 12 ?
Thanks for reading, I’m out! Peace 🙂 Bookmark my blog!
Troy was released from Jail and he released a video telling us what happened. This is the 1st part of a 4 part video on Youtube. To check out the other 3 videos, go to his page here. (NSFW)
As you know, I’m a fan of Troy from West Virginia. Troy is weird, I know that. But he makes me laugh. The dude is crazy, but in a good way. Well I guess he went too crazy at the Dodgers game in Cincinnati. Apparently after Joe Beimel pitched the 7th Inning of Tuesday’s game, Troy got into a fight and didn’t stop. More info from the Press-Enterprise…
Taped to Joe Beimel’s locker after the game was a copy of the police report detailing the actions of the reliever’s biggest fan, who got himself into trouble at Great American Ball Park.
Troy Sexton, a West Virginia man who has gained cult prominence for his numerous Beimel tribute videos on YouTube, was arrested before the start of the eighth inning and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest — actions that resulted in the game being delayed.
Sexton engaged in a physical altercation and refused to stop fighting when asked, according to the report. His arrest came after Beimel recorded two groundouts to help the Dodgers escaped a seventh-inning jam.
Beimel has met Sexton and even appeared in a YouTube video responding to the man, but asked if he might have the money to post bond, the left-hander smiled and said, “I have it. He’s not getting it.”
What’s more funnier ? That Troy got arrested or that Beimel refused to bail him out of jail ? lol Well I can’t wait from a response from Troy on YouTube and hear his side of th story. His last video was this one….Click on the Video if you want to read the comments. Some of them are funny…I’m out! Peace…
Thanks to Nick for the tip…the following video is from yesterdays game. Joe Beimel got to say the starting lineup for Fox. It’s funny. He mentiones Troy from West Virginia. He doesn’t know if Brad Penny wants to be a Hollywood Star or a Redneck…check it out!
