Jeff Kent hates Vin Scully

O.K. I might be over-reacting with the title. But reading T.J. Simers article of the L.A. Times made me laugh. Jeff Kent is mad at Vin Scully. What bugs Kent now ? Last season, he made stupid comments about the youth on the team. Saying things like “I don’t know what it is, especially when you have a lot of young players” and I don’t know why they don’t get it.” He attacks the youth and now he attacks a senior citizen. Yeah, he blasted Vin Scully. Incredible. He is offended because Vin Scully says that he is on a hot streak because of the
JeffKent.jpgarrival of Manny Ramirez.

“Vin Scully talks too much,” Kent says.

“I’ve been here four years and I have never seen Vin Scully down here in the clubhouse. How does Vin Scully know me? How does Vin Scully know Derek Lowe?”

“Everyone says I’m hitting now because some guy says so on TV?”

Well Jeff, stats don’t lie. Your batting average has increased by more than 20 points in the past 10 days since hitting third. My suggestion is to just shut your mouth and play ball. You sound like a bitter old man that is not accepting the fact that this might be your last season. Relax Jeff. Take it easy.

The above picture was taken at Cal Poly Pomona back in 2005. Awesome guy believe it or not. Talked alot to the fans and signed autographs. Maybe he has 2 personalities ?

World Baseball Classic 2009

On Thursday afternoon, the Dodgers will hold a press conference to announce that Dodger Stadium will host the World Baseball Classic (WBC) semifinals and finals. The 16-nation tournament are tentatively scheduled for March 21-23 2009 at Dodger Stadium. The same countries will represent. They are planning to add more countries (How about Nicaragua!?) for the 2013 tournament. That’s cool ! I’m a big fan of this tournament. I went to a couple of games for the 1st WBC event. I saw games in Phoenix, Anaheim and San Diego. It’s really fun. The fans of the respective countries are really into it and want them to win so bad. As a American citizen, I should root for U.S.A right ? Not really…in 2006 It looked like they didn’t take it seriously (kind of like the U.S. Basketball teams in recent Olympics) The American team didn’t seem they were having fun and the ones who complained about the Classic were the Americans. I never heard complaints from the other teams. They were proud to play for their country and the fans came out in large crowds to root for them. When I went to Phoenix to watch the U.S. take on Mexico, I would say more than half of the crowd were Mexicans. If you saw the parking lot, most license plates were “Sonora” and “Sinaloa” On this tournament I rooted for Mexico (My mom is from Sonora, Mexico) and Cuba (My dad is Cuban) It was hard rooting for Cuba, knowing that the team is run by Fidel Castro but you couldn’t appreciate the way they played. They were good. Made it all the way to the final against Japan. I was there at Petco Park when Japan defeated Cuba. It was like going to a game 7 World Series game. Check out some photos below. Pix # 1 -Inside Chase Field- Phoenix, Arizona (U.S.A. vs Mexico) Que chingon no? lol

4th Pix -Petco Park- San Diego, California -The Final game (Cuba vs Japan) I bought the Cuba hat that same day at the gift shop before the game. It cost me a blow to the ribs to “win” the hat. Let me explain. Before the game, a couple of hours before game-time, I asked a employee if they had any official Cuba hats. He told me they sold out all the hats. That they are the hottest items. Huh ? Cuba hats sold out ? He said “yeah and you wouldn’t believe it who is buying them, the Americans!” Crazy huh ? I didn’t believe it until he told me that a shipment is coming any minute. I waited patiently. Then a couple of boxes come in with Cuba hats. The employees tried to stack them by size but all the fans got crazy over the hats. Everyone wanted one. I remember I got smashed into a corner while I was trying to find my hat size! lol It was insane. Crazy! Next time, I will buy it online… The people you see me behind was a complete orchestra. I’m serious. They brought like over 20 intruments and played it all night long!  Se acabo el mundo !!

My last pix -This picture is Fernando Valenzuela and I holding the WBC Mexico Jersey. I already got autographs from Mexican players Benji Gil and Oliver Perez. I had to get Fernando to sign it since he was part of the Mexican coaching staff. Sweet !! 🙂 Yaqui Power !! lol

Ethier playing for Mexico ?

Talking about the WBC reminded me that a couple of peEthier1.jpgople have told me that Andre Ethier is interested playing for Mexico at the 2009 World Baseball Classic. Can anyone confirm this ? I can’t find anything online except a line on Wikipedia that says “He has stated his intention to play for Mexico in the next World Baseball Classic” He did ? Wow, I never knew or heard about it

. I know he is of Mexican heritage, but I never knew he wanted to play for Mexico. I remember Nomar Garciaparra was going to play for Mexico in 2006 but he opt out.

Want to meet Ethier ?

Ok people have been telling me to give them upcoming appearances by Dodgers. Here is one:

Manny Ramirez coming to the Dodgers ? Say it ain’t so Colleti ? Keep the youth intact ! DO NOT TRADE MATT KEMP. DO NOT TRADE ANDRE ETHIER. Understand ?

Kent is a loner

Did you read this from the L.A. Times…? Jeff Kent says “I don’t hang out with the guys — never have,” he says. “I don’t go out drinking, look at porn, have a girlfriend or get divorced — so I’m selfish”
